In his address Fr. Lauro V. Larlar, OAR challenged everyone to go first to the fundamentals while the institution awards the fruits. Caring for the roots, according to him, will ensure accomplishment as high as the sky. He further encouraged the organizers to create more reunions, bondings so that unity will be established as the deck of the relationship. Getting closer regardless of political status and affiliations is what really defines Sebastinians.

The program was enlivened by song numbers from Joan Empleo, an HRM graduate. Also rendering few timely classics was Mr. Louie Ramos, Batch 92 (Mass Communication). Standout was the first Pinoy Idol herself GRETCHEN ESPINA, daughter of the awardee Gov. Roger J. Espina or Biliran City, who sang her celebration piece composed by Olgie Alcasid.

The Hall of Fame Awardees were honored and had their individual and meaningful responses.

Dr. Samuel D. Bernal expressed his commitment to provide SSC-R Manila the laboratory equipment that will enhance the school’s competitiveness.

Clodualdo del Mundo acknowledged the award as the big surprise in his life.

Ret. Gen. Froilan M. Maglaya was so thankful to the Sto. Nino and the influences of St. Sebastian through the old priest administrators (Fr. Berga, Fr. Chiquote, etc.) whose discipline he acquired was applied to the Philippine Army under his leadership. Subscribing to the motto “He who humbles himself shall be exalted…” he appeared emotionally forever grateful to his alma mater.

Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn admitted being the lucky survivor. “I’m happy to be home. I’m sure the award is due to the environmental projects and forest conservation.” So earnest about his commitment, he shared to everyone his philosophy on environment which was summarized in this text, “Just as we don’t violate our homes, we must not violate our environment.” He concluded with this message. “Our responsibility doesn’t end in our homes, we must protect our bigger home.”

Gov. Luis Chavit Singson was equally proud and thankful for the award.

Atty. Luis M. Relativo became nostalgic as he unforgettably recalled students like Zialcita, Orbos and a lot more who have been successful in their chosen fields.

Meanwhile, Alumni President Atty. Rafael V. Lazo thanked everyone especially his co-organizers for mounting this very first attempt to institutionally recognize distinct alumni. The project aims at drawing support to finance the future projects of the association, one of which is the Scholarship Foundation.

Serving as program emcees were Mr. Albert C. Danan and Miss Sunshine Pabilico.

This project was spearheaded by Atty. Rafael V. Lazo, Mr. Leonardo Martin Bunag, Mr. Alex Salvador, Mr. Angelo “Eloy” Padua, and Mr.Willy Quibael.
