GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY

A broad coverage of the conceptual and empirical foundations of psychology in its main fields is the primary content of the course. The discussion of the theories, concepts, and empirical findings focused on complex human behavior: how and why we think, feel and behave how we interact with others, and why and how we become unique individuals that we are.


DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY

A study of human development throughout the life span in the areas of physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and moral development. Major developmental theories are tackled. The course also stresses the system perspective and the interactive
dimension of human development particularly in the Filipino setting.


THEORIES OF PERSONALITY

The course surveys the major theories of personality and the theoretical and practical issues involved in the scientific study and understanding of personality formations and dynamics.


SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY

The scientific study of human social behavior: how and why we think, feel, behave and relate to one another in social situations. The major theories, concepts and empirical findings in social psychology are dealt with. Social Behavior and Social Phenomena in Philippine setting are also examined.


BEHAVIORAL STATISTICS W/ COMPUTER

This course covers the basic concepts and methods of descriptive and inferential statistics and their use in the design, analysis, and interpretation of psychological studies.


EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY

This course is an introduction to laboratory research, methodology, and its applicability to problems related to various psychological processes. It explains the key principles of research, particularly experimental research, and in the context of concrete examples. It has three (3) units of lecture and two (2) units laboratory
experiments. Enough information and guidance is presented to enable the student to execute an experiment, analyze and interpret the results and write a report. It allows the student also to design program through scientific experimentation.


PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING

The course is an orientation to the rudiments of psychological testing. The principles, methods and uses of psychological testing are tackled. Emphasis is placed on issues of item analysis, reliability, and validity in test construction. The administration, scoring, and interpretation of objective cognitive and affective
test used in various applied fields of psychology, particularly the educational, industrial, and government settings are covered. Ethical considerations as well as current trends issues in psychological testing in the Philippine setting are included.


PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH A-B

This course is zeroed in on systematic study of the basic concepts and principles of research problems of investigation, theory and related literature, research methodology, data collection, appropriate use of statistics and writing a research project. The second part is the implementation of the research proposal. The student is expected to come up with a well-written empirical research paper and is expected to defend the results, the discussion, and the conclusion.

INDUSTRIAL/ ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

It considers the psychological approach to business problems.The various methods and techniques, which may be used by both management and worker to secure a mutually satisfactory and harmonious relationship with one another and with consuming public, are the important contents of the course.


GROUP DYNAMICS

Through Experiential / Inductive methods, the course provides the students the opportunity to understand the dynamics of group processes and functioning communication, problemsolving, decision-making, leadership/membership, collaboration/competition, and self awareness.


ABNORMAL & CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

This course focuses on the concepts, causes, symptoms, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the abnormal behavior of man. Emphasis is on the various clinical interventions for the treatment and prevention of such behavior.


LEARNING AND COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY

The subject is an introduction to research and knowledge in the psychological study. Important cognitive abilities including sensation and perception, attention, memory and representation, language and thinking are the main topics of the course.


PHYSIOLOGICAL PSYCHOLOGY

This course explains the major psychological structures effecting human behavior and the processes that take place in them. It deals with the functions of the various mechanism of the body like the nervous system, the muscles and the senses involved in the production of an integrated human behavior and responses.

PRINCIPLES OF GUIDANCE & COUNSELING

Concepts, functions and methods of Guidance services applicable to educational, industrial, and clinical setting are dealt with in this subject.


PSYCHODIAGNOSTICS

This course is focused on the theory, administration, scoring, and interpretation of projective approaches to personality assessment of children (below 14 years old) and adults (18 years & older).


PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT & PUBLIC RELATIONS

This course deals with the different aspects of personality, which will help in molding the students to become promising professionals and better persons as they venture into their chosen career. It includes good manners and decorum, which are essential in building good relationships with other people.


VALUES EDUCATION

The course introduces the students to values in general, their role in the growth and development of self, which underlie meaningful relationships with other persons. It further deepens the understanding of moral values affecting their life choices, decisions and actions.


MENTAL HYGIENE

The course will provide the students with a comprehensive understanding of the value of mental hygiene. The maintenance of a mentally healthy personality, which includes principles and practices for optimum adjustment to growth, changes and
development, is also tackled.
