2006-2007 College Intrams

The Supreme Student Government recently unfolded the opening ceremonies for the College Intramurals with 9 teams representing courses such as Psychology, Marketing, Mass Communication, Accountancy, Tourism, Computer Science, HRM, Management and Political Science.
The ceremony was opened with a band perfomance of the SAS members. A colorful parade followed with muses leading to the delight of the crowd. Fr. Cris Palomar gave the invocation while Fr. Joel Naranja rendered the welcome remarks which was followed by the oath of sportsmanship led by the SG President, Aaron Saludo.

Despite the cold, nippy air, everything was scaldingly hot in the city of pines - Baguio.
Proof:
King and Queen. Whew! Two students from Grade VI- St. Augustine, won the most coveted award of the 15th YMCA Advisers and Junior Leaders Seminar Workshop. Justin Benedict E. Armada was named Mr. Campference, while Jisah A. Morante was crowned Ms. Campference. They showed the perfect blend of intelligence, good-looks, smartness during the interview, and talent as Justin delivered a breath-taking piece while Jisah rendered a captivating dance number with baton exhibition.

”Celebrating Life Through Sports in the Spirit of Friendship”

Eight basketball and four volleyball teams paraded during the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Community Sportsfest held Saturday morning (November 11) at the SSC-R Manila Gym.
Wowing the crowds were basketball team entries representing College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Accountancy, Business Administration, and Computer Studies (CABACS), Law, Athletics, Worldwide Maintenance Services (WMS), READS, NTP, and the Recoletos Fathers (SACERDOS).

First Year Places First
SSC-R High School students jampacked the newly painted quadrangle during the annual cheering competition held Nov. 10, 2006.
The first year bagged the title, Juniors went second, while the Seniors and Sophomores placed third and fourth respectively.
The winning group was under the tutelage of Mr. Francis Arboleda and Ms. Editha Nepomuceno as cheering coach and adviser. Other advisers and cheering coaches were Mrs. Joyette Galang and Mr. Armand Arboleda (2nd year), Miss Eden Ibarrola and Ms. Juliet Baltazar (3rd year), and Mrs. Jho Adriano and Mrs. Mayla Atienza (4th year).

SSC-R Canlubang continuosly entertains potential high school graduates and freshmen transferees for admission. Interested students may visit the campus located at Reliance Drive, Carmelray Industrial Park 1, Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna.
Admission is held from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Following are the requirements: Form 138 (if possible), Good Moral Character, Birth Certificate, and 5 pcs. 1x1 colored ID pictures.

Jubilant Sebastinians enjoyed a feast of victory celebration last Friday night, October 6 at the SSC-R Quadrangle with 3 back to back championship trophies, 6 gold, 6 silver, 4 bronze, 3 MVPs, 3 Coaches of the Year, and 1 outstanding and record-breaker and holder in the NCAA this early.

As they did last year, again San Sebastian College snatched championships in Junior Basketball, Junior Volleyball and Senior Female Volleyball in the NCAA 2006-2007 Season. Bringing home the bacon, the jubilant teams will be honored in a victory party with the triumphant Sebastian Community next week. So come one, come all! Stand out and be proud. Celebrate victories with us. BRAVO BASTE!

The College of Accountancy, Business Administation, and Computer Science held a three-day fair at the Activity Center, Level 5 of SM Manila.
Dubbed as TRADEX 2006, the event was a showcase of about 49 booths displaying the entrepreneurial creativity of the management and marketing students.
During the affair three seminars were held featuring an alumnus and two other successful entrepreneurs.

Newly-appointed Area Chair of Psychology Miss Merle Salmorin spearheaded the conduct of the Team Building which was provided for the faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences. Held last September 1, the professors gathered in a session to renew their spirit and commitment to the college in particular and to the institution in general.

Six CABACS students went home pocketful of money during the BINGO Games sponsored by the Legal Management Society. The game, being part of the 10 TH CABACS WEEK, was held at the College Lobby on September 5 at 3 pm.

TRADEX 2006 WINNERS
ZAFT CARAMBA and PIZZAWARMA both topped the TRADEX 2006 participants as they emerged winners of the “BEST BOOTH:” during the Closing and Awarding Ceremonies held on September 7, 6 pm at the Activity Center, Level 5, SM Manila.
Zaft Caramba boasts of a bar station that offers fiery drink in an innovative form, while Pizzawarma offers a delectable mix of shawarma and pizza in a unique form. Zaft Caramba is composed of Isabel Flores, Hazel Kris Santillana, Arriane Avellaneda, and Ronn Gedrick Domingo, while Pizzawarma was completed by Erika Fe Francisco, Eibron Espineda, Mark Francis Verzola, Michael Louis Canuel, and Gustin Jay Dizon. The exhibit was participated by about 49 booths displaying an array of unique and exciting products that caught everyone’s interest to an amazement.

After the success of the first ever Baste Alumni Basketball League (BABL) last year, the San Sebastian College Alumni Association Incorporated (SSCAAI) held the second season dubbed as "HATAW NA. KAYANG-KAYA PA!". This league promises to be bigger and better! The said event is under the new committee headed by Mr. Joseph Rene Leopando (HS '79) who is now on his second term the Alumni Association's treasurer. Together with Mr. Louie Empleo (Coll.'85), Mr. Guellermo Tamayo (Coll. '85) and Mr. Sonny Calleja (HS '79), they promised to make this season an all-weather meet. Officials behind the league said the onset of the rainy season will be the least expected to affect their game schedules.
