Lying idle as my two crimsoned eyes demanded a bed rest, my remote control has gotten soft due to constant press as I shifted channels registered through my plain antennae. Until it made a stop to a very interesting crucial match ballgame of the red vs. yellow. The red team was heavily pounded during the first quarter, bounced back with two-point lead in the second quarter, inched to a three in the third, and drove for the much-needed win during the fourth quarter – almost! It could have been a sweet victory for the STAGS.

After four days of heavy rains that includes a faulty storm alarm, SSC-R community gets back hurriedly to reform its shape to continue its physical preparation and academic readying. That is even if PAASCU Assessment Team would not be around for a two-day evaluation mission this 22-23 of August.
Earlier last week, Fr. Cachero made his final briefing to the faculty and administrators on the said PAASCU Visit. Underscoring the importance of the visit, he informed everyone that the accreditation period prepares the whole community to be aware and conscious of what each one is doing and understand why we have to undergo a stressful process. Moreover, he pointed out that accreditation should be not seen as a way of competing with other schools but more of an opportunity to assess the school’s standing vis-à-vis its vision-mission.

This seasn promises another heart-stopping ball-by-ball moments as the Junior Stags defend the title and get the Grand Slam. But expect the Seniors retaliating to grab a space in the magic four. Here’s how the host school (JRU) describes the STAGS in their Game Guide info mag.
“Joe Gallent, Jolly Escobar, and one championship-hungry horde. Enough said. Enough said for how well-oiled the barracks of the Stags are for the 83rd season.

Everyone did not expect that this catastrophe would cause death to hundreds of people, and destroy billions of properties and resources.
All sectors of society worked hand in hand to help the victims of typhoon Reming in the Bicol Region, so did the Sebastinian community. With the support of different individuals, companies, students, parent, employees, faculty members and alumni, SOFI was able to collect almost 1,000 packs of canned goods, noodles, rice, milk, etc. and even used clothings.

Keeping A Look On Our Being. Sebastinians, Taralets!
By: A. Danan
Keeping a night alive, stretching an energy to the limit, sharing and sparing a moment or two, dancing, yelling, laughing, eating, partying, getting spiritually inspired,… how else would one spend a 15-hour event with nary a sleep? This aint ordinary for a student’s life, but for a Sebastinian, the affair could be a night to remember.
Some 700 or more students stayed wide awake June 29 to 30 and became closer to their school’s spirit. The event was called NIGHT CAMP 2007, a traditional welcoming of freshmen and transferees now nestling at San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Manila.

In the pursuit of maintaining excellence in athletic endeavours, SSC-R Manila (through the Elementary Family Council, ELFACO) holds Taekwondo sessions with sports partner MILO, the Energy Drink. Target participants are the grade school, high school and college students.
MILO Taekwondo team is led by Coach Jec Canotes. With him are Igor Ducay, Romeo de Leon, Roger Arroyo, Jr., Chloe Camyl Diel, and Raffy de Jesus. Traninings are held every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This sports event intends to screen and develop potential Taekwondo athletes who will be trained regularly for Taekwondo competions here and abroad.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jeffrey Garcia of the Philippine Taekwondo Association shares participation by endorsing the new Electronic ID System . The system provides information and important data on Taekwondo. Sharing her skills is Kim Alexis, a junior black belter who is a gold Medalist of last year’s Palarong Pambansa.
The training for Taekwondo reminds everyone of the learnings not only on combat technique and self defense. It should be regarded as a form of physical exercise that also provides entertainment and a very sound philosophy on physical health. It elevates individuals to ranks and belts among which are yellow belt, black belt, and junior belt.
Taekwondo is one among the many sports activities SSC-R Manila has been implementing to perpetuate a commitment for quality education through excellence in sports. Consistent to this mission is the school’s string of championships in the NCAA specifically in the areas of basketball, volleyball, lawn tennis, and track and field. The Junior Stags hold the overall championship in the NCAA for two years now.
