STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

Pre-requisites: Core business subjects


Strategic Management addresses management from the perspective of the General Manager of the Chief Executive Office. The center of attention is the totality of existing firms in its continuous quest in its never ending process of finding ways
and means of achieving profitability through its operations. This subject is an integration of all the functional areas of business-Marketing Human Resources, Production, Financial, and MIS- against the back drift of the firm’s environment. Specifically, the study zeroes in on the conceptualization of organizational vision, mission, goals, and objectives (VMGO). It is upon these VMGO where business policies emanate. During the course, the student is expected to learn the role and task of a strategy- maker. A constant update on what is happening in the actual scenario of the business world would be used as a great tool to use in having strategic analysis and in considering the different pros and cons of the crafting every strategic alternative. The task of implementation and evaluation would be needed to carry out the full function of the prepared plan set by the strategist.


BUSINESS MANAGEMENT PRACTICUM

Pre-requisites: All major subjects in Management


The course is designed as a training laboratory outside classroom work wherein the students undergo apprenticeship office training. The student is expected to gain insight of business operations and management, which he/she can now blend with
the theories and concepts learned in previous courses.


MODERN LEADERSHIP TRENDS
3 units
Pre- requisites: MG 111 and MG 121


The course deals with the study of leadership in an organization, its background, theories, models, trends and current practices with primary focus on developing effective leadership in a formal and changing organization. Also, it presents management and leadership facts and issues in relation to global perspectives, with
emphasis on how culture affects the dynamic of leadership.


MODERN BUSINESS PARADIGM SHIFT

Pre-requisites: MG 111, MG 121 and MG 412


This course is designed to provide the students with necessary background concerning preparations and application of business re-engineering which is largely anchored on modern business Paradigm shifts. It also deals with improvements in business processes that are eventually geared towards ultimate customer satisfaction and customer delight, with emphasis on its impact in relation to management, technology and human resources.


ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE MANAGEMENT
3 units
Pre-requisites: MG 111 and MG 121


This course deals with the study of the fundamentals of effective Administrative Office Management. These fundamentals include the basic principles of management, problem solving, systems thinking and communications to administer the office function. This study stresses on people and on their role in using the tools of information technology required in the battle to increase productivity. Coverage includes the main concepts needed to understand the services used to successful office administrators-computers, word processing, telecommunications, record management and the economic environment required for the new networking technology. As a whole, the course gives emphasis on the responsibilities of the Administrative Office Manager as the one who heads up the company-wide information management function.


PRINCIPLES OF ECONOMICS WITH TAR

Pre-requisite: None


An introductory course in the study of economics in the macro level, it covers a discussion of the nature and significance of economic issues and problems facing/affecting a nation. The subject aims to present a basic understanding of various economic concepts and principles.


INCOME TAXATION
3 units
Pre-requisite: AC 211, AC 221


This course provides students the knowledge on the nature, scope and limitations of taxation, how income tax is computed, how income tax return is filled-up and filed. Students are also expected to become knowledgeable on the different income
items (taxable and nontaxable).


TRANSFER AND BUSINESS TAXES
3 units
Pre-requisite: TX 111


This course covers discussion on transfer taxes on gratuitous transfer of property (estate tax and donor’s tax), VAT, percentage taxes, excise taxes, documentary stamp taxes, and community tax. It also includes remedies of the state for collections of taxes and the remedies of the taxpayers on taxes being assessed and/ or erroneously paid.
