BUSINESS AND CORPORATE FINANCE

Pre-requisite:


This course includes fundamental principles of financial policy included in the organization and management of business enterprises in the Philippine settings. It also covers fund raising practices of the corporations to meet their capital requirement through the sale of securities, through bank loans and trade credits.


HUMAN BEHAVIOR IN ORGANIZATION
3 units
Pre-requisite: MG 111


This course is an introduction to the theories, concepts and models of individual and group behavior in organizations. It represents an overview of the elements of group behavior, cultural influences, managerial assumptions about employees
and strategies for organizational change and development. Issues and problems in leadership styles and supervisory attitudes on motivation of workers are likewise raised for discussion and analysis.


ADVANCED ECONOMIC ANALYSIS
3 units
Pre-requisite: EC 211


This course leads to an understanding of the basic principles of economics in micro level. It covers a study of economic problems, economic variables and economic issues affecting the consumer and the firm. It also underscores the working of the price theory as to how it can be applied to decision-making problems.


PRINCIPLES of MANAGEMENT

Pre-requisite: None


This course enables the students to be acquired with the basic concepts, principles and processes relating to the organizations and management of the business. Emphasis will be given to the management functions of planning, staffing, directing, coordinating and controlling. The different forms of business organization, their formation, structures and advantages are also discussed.

This course focuses on the need for a more efficient, economical and equitable management of human resources in business and industry. As a form of corporate strategy, it provides students with more meaningful knowledge and skills of managing the organization’s most important asset- the human resource.


MARKETING MANAGEMENT

Pre-requisites: MK 121 and MG 111


This course aims to provide the students with an understanding of the role of marketing management in business organizations. Topics discussed include plans and programs, forecasting, research analysis, product planning and price formulation with special emphasis on Philippine marketing operation. It also analyzes the business strategies environments and the formulation of business strategies and tactics.


PUBLIC RELATIONS

Pre-requisites: MG 111 and MG 211


It includes the various publics that interface with a firm carrying out its role in society. More so, this course deals with personality development, which is the basic issue in good public relations.


DECISION SCIENCE
3 units
Pre-requisite: MA 104


This course presents an overview of quantitative techniques, applications and implementations. In the first two chapters, the general nature of a linear programming problem is introduced and solutions are discussed using graphical and simplex methods. Special types of linear programming problems like transportation and assignment problems are treated fully in the next chapter. Network analysis is included to train students to plan, organize and control business projects. Separate chapters follow this on break-even analysis, decision analysis, inventory
models, and forecasting. Finally, the course presents the mathematical models useful in helping students make the best possible decisions. All the above topics are introduced by using practical situations in every student’s life.


BUSINESS ETHICS AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Pre-requisites: MG 111 and MK 121


The course is designed to introduce standard to business ethical identity that grows increasingly complex. Its primary focus is on the obligation of Business sector to help solve social problems such as pollution, poverty etc., and the obligation of a manufacturer to the consumer in respect to products defects and safety. Likewise, the course presents some different perspectives on understanding basic concepts and concerns of business ethics and will provide ideas on how to incorporate these concepts into policies and decision making processes of business.


MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (MISD)

Pre-requisites: None


This course deals with the study of the management information system. This tackles the importance and role in the organization. It also covers the function and methods of management information system, major criticism, approaches and features of a system important for designing an information system.


ENTREPRENEURIAL MANAGEMENT
3 units
Pre-requisite:


The study of Management of small business—this course seeks to show how to organize and manage a small-scale business; topics covered are the role of small firm, policy and strategy formulations managerial activities and government assistance to small business. It includes actual managerial problems faced by small business analyzed through case study solving.


PRODUCTION AND OPERATION MANAGEMENT

Pre-requisites: MA 107/ MG 310 and MA 104


This course provides students with an overview of production operations management. It emphasizes on production and operation management such as choosing a location for an office or plant, resources allocations, designing products and services, scheduling activities and assuring quality in the business environment.


FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT P-1

Pre-requisites: AC 211, MG 111, BF 111, MA 101 and IT 102


This course covers a review of the preparation and analysis of financial statements (I/S. B/S and Cash Flow). It includes a study of the time value of money, risk return and their integration into the valuation process-bonds, stocks and firm. Its primary focus is on short-term financing decisions, policies and strategies which include financial planning, working capital and short-term financing, cash and marketable securities, accounts receivable and inventory.


BUSINESS PLANNING AND RESEARCH, P-1

Pre-requisites: Should passed all business core subjects


This course is meant to introduce the students to the world of research thus, enlightens then to the discovery of facts and information. It also enables the students to identify problems in the field of management. Emphasis is on the design of the research project, specifically the systematic gathering-recording of data. Likewise, the measurement technique in business research, sampling and data analysis are also given emphasis.


JOB EVALUATION AND SUPERVISION

Pre-requisite: MG 111 and MG 211


The course is designed to study the importance of conducting job analysis; job description and job specification in relation to job evaluation. In addition it also deals with the various factors affecting compensation plans with emphasis on the primary methods of evaluation as a process to ascertain the relative and comparable worth of each lab within an organization in order to arrive at a fair and equitable Job pricing and administration.


BUSINESS PLANNING AND RESEARCH, P-2

Pre-requisites: MG 323, MG 111 and MG 121


The course covers the application of a research principle in the solution of a business problem. An actual research study will be conducted by the students giving emphasis on the interpretation and reporting of finding needed by business decisions.


INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT
3 units
Pre-requisites:


This course introduces the student to the cultural, economic and political aspects or domestic, international and foreign issues and their effects on the international operations of business
firms. The student is familiarized with the expanded world of international management by examining the underlying concepts of international economic theory; developing a framework for examining the country’s constraints (sociological, educational, economic, political and legal) and relating to them the operations of multinational enterprises; studying the relationship between the international firms and the state with particular reference to foreign ownership policies; payment concepts; and the role of multinational enterprise in economic development and planned economies.


SALES MANAGEMENT (E-SELLING)

Pre-requisite: MK 121


The subject deals with a discussion and practical application of selling techniques. It intends to incorporate recent sales and corporate techniques and orientation on modern day selling. It specifically stresses emphasis on personality development as a key concept in achieving an effective salesmanship.


PHILIPPINE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

Pre-requisite:


This course is intended to provide students an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how Philippine business in its generic embraces the totality of external environmental forces and its influence in any aspect of organizational activity.
